My dad receives loads of cold calls on the telephone from scum trying to con him or take advantage of him. He is 70 and has parkinsons disease. How can i stop these idiots ?. I try to answer the phone for him and tell them we aren't interested. I have signed us up to the tps but its useless. I have complained to trading standards and my mp but they are useless too. I've found an e petition where you can sign to stop cold calls. Its at www.nuisancecalls.net

This may be expensive but he should get a new number. Its the only secure way. Even if you did sign a petition, no real action will be taken any time soon for quite a while.

The main problem is a lot of them come from abroad and in cases like that nobody can do anything about it not the tps or the phone companies an answer maybe to get him an answer machine cold callers do not like them and with a genuine caller they will either call back or your dad can just pres the button on it and if he knows the number can dail 1471 then 3 and it will automatily call that number and any family or friends who call him can leave a message saying who they are and either he can call them or they will call back

If the calls are coming from the same number, or a few numbers, then you can call your phone company and block those specific numbers. Or if they are unknown/private calls, then you can block those too. Unfortunately this is a fairly common issue, spamming calls that is, and if you are requested to give your contact information to something and you don't really want to be contacted, or you don't trust it, it is better to just give some sort of fake number so at least they won't be able to harass you. Generally your area code, the real first 3 digits of your number, then 5555 at the end or some other set of random digits will work.

Even though you are on the TPS list it wont stop the calls and when you tell them you are not interested you will keep getting the calls, I was one of those people that done these type of jobs for a living so I know how it works, when you get the calls for the double glazing, kitchens, conservatories or anything to do with the house just tell them you had it done about 9 months ago and then it will get taken off their list for several years, most of these people are university student trying to make a living, Good Luck

Ring your dads phone provider and explain the situation. They should hopefully put his number as x directory and stop calls like this, also you can barr unknown numbers from calling.

Hope you can get it stopped. I know how annoying these are and had to change my number.

We made up a demonstration that reported, boldly, "No chilly callers, no salesmen, no canvassers, no non secular." and positioned it up interior our glass door window when we were in for the evening or did not favor to be disturbed.. appeared to artwork.
