what would cause my voice to sound muffled to people calling me on my cordless panasonic phone?

I spoke to many people on my cordless phone yesterday. Tonight I was told they couldn't understand
what I was saying and had to switch to another phone. I did order a new battery so wondering if the
battery could cause this. What would cause my voice to sound muffled. The phone was not cheap
and is only a few years old.

it is an echo test, it will repeat back to you what ever you say... .it is not a toll free number, so there might be long distance charges associated with placing this call if you do not have an unlimited long distance plan..



first - does this happen to everyone you talk with or just one person? if just one person, then i would assume that the problem is on their end..



second - when you changed the phone did the problem go away? was the phone that you changed to a cordless or corded phone? could be wireless interference? if it was a cordless phone did it operate on the same frequency as the problem phone (900Mhz, 2.4Ghz, 5.8Ghz, 1.9 Ghz a/k/a DECT6.0)



third - what type of phone service do you have? land line, VoIP, cable company "digital voice"? VoIP is prone to audible quality issues dependent on the quality of your internet connection..



has the phone been dropped? or gotten any water damage?



does the handset have a speaker phone? are the audio problems still there when using the speaker phone?



check that there is nothing stuck in the holes for the transmitter (microphone) of the phone



i assume that the transmitter is blocked, or damaged, and that you would need to at minimum replace the handset... i doubt that replacing the battery would resolve this issue..
