Question:
Do all cordless phones (even corded/ cordless combos) need an electricity power supply?

My main phone line is in the bedroom and nowhere near an electricity supply. At the moment there is a messy extension system connecting that phone line to the downstairs via the outside of the house so I can have a phone down there and broadband. I have decided to switch to wireless broadband and cordless phones so I can do away with the extension wires. My new problem is that I think the cordless phone in the bedroom would need an electricity supply which i don't have anywhere nearby. If I have a corded phone up there linked to cordless phones downstairs would I still need an electricity supply to the phone in the bedroom? Please help as I am truly confused!!

You need a power supply to maintain the charge on the cordless phone wherever you put it.

The corded phone runs off the low voltage electricity supplied by the phone company, so you just plug it into the phone socket and it works - even when there's a power cut.

Don't understand why there are no power sockets in a bedroom, surely there's at least one ?

Hello,

(ANS) No.1 The answer is I'm afraid that YES! ALL cordless phones do need a power supply as they tend to have an internal battery that needs re-charging from time to time.

No.2 If your going broadband & using a wireless router be very careful to check that your cordless phones don't cause interference with the radio signal your WiFi uses. Wireless routers tend to broadcast on a defined frequency which is 2.4giga Hrtz or 5 giga Hrtz but so do cordless phones, some also use 2.4gh.

**Cordless phones & WiFi don't make a happy marriage sadly.

You could power it from a dynamo fitted to your exercise bike. Otherwise you will have to wait for the invention of the cordless extension lead.
