Vonage vs. AT&T ? Which is the better/more reliable phone service?

If you use either of these, could you please tell me which you think is better? Also, is AT&T internet service worth it? ...the only thing i can find on their website is dial-up, but it says they also have DSL.... don't see it on the website, but whatever. thanks!

I am currently using AT&T landline phone and DSL service. I also have a AT&T cellular phone. The landline is also used for dial-up internet access in case the DSL service has problem.



The DSL service sometimes runs slow for extended period. And in one occasion, it is suspended for one day's service. But overall the service quality is satisfactory.



The landline phone service is not used much. I do not see any problem with it. It will charge for outgoing long distance call so I use cellular phone if possible which is included in the plan.



If there is landline phone service, it will also provide DSL service because they both use the same pair of wires into the house. You can pay a fee for AT&T to assign a technician to do the modem installation. It is not difficult. So I install the modem myself instead.



You can check AT&T's web-site to see if DSL is available in your area. If you cannot find the information, you can call AT&T.

My home phone is through at&t and it is good, never had any real problems yet. My dad has vonage and he swears by it. The only thing I dont like about vonage is that if you dial 911 from your home phone, the 911 operator will not know where you are calling from, so you need to relax and tell them your name,address of emergency and phone number. That is the only downfall to vonage, but its a big one if you ask me.....
