Question:
How are people forwarding calls to my home?

Okay, so at my home, my phone will ring with a business coming up on the caller id. When I answer the phone, the person on the other line from the business is picking up their line and they will say "Little Ceasar's." or whatever business it is. This is getting annoying, how is this happening? It's almost like someone is fowarding the call.

it sounds more like someone activated automatic call back...... because you are saying that the other party is answering the phone as if they were reciving the call...

auto call back will ring your line when the number called becomes available, when you pick up, the call rings thru to the other party, and the call is connected..

either someone activated this feature on your line, or someone activated it on a line that may be fowarded to your number... as your number is not the number being fowarded to, and neither is the business that is calling you, unless you know or are able to determine who fowarded there number to your line (ask the business what came up on the caller ID, there is a slight chance that the CID info is the number that fowarded to your line instead of your line... ) you are going to have to contact your local phone provider to look into troubleshooting this issue, as the trouble sounds like it actuallay lies in a third, unknown (at this time) number...

You are probably going to have to call and or ask that business to turn off their call forwarding.

To Use Call Forwarding:

Pick up the receiver and press *72 (or dial 1172 on a rotary phone).

Again, listen for the dial tone.

Dial the number where you wish your calls to be forwarded, followed by the # key. (Speed Calling codes may be used if you have this feature.)

If the call is answered at the forwarded number, Call Forwarding is turned on.

If the call is not answered or the line is busy, hang up. Within 2 minutes repeat the process.

Once you have turned on Call Forwarding, the phone will ring one short time each time a call is forwarded. You can still make outgoing calls from this phone without interfering with incoming calls.

To Turn Off Call Forwarding:

Press *73 (or dial 1173 on a rotary phone) and wait for the confirmation tone.

To Use Remote Call Forwarding:

Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.

Dial the Access Directory Number (if you don’t remember is, call the business office) and wait for a special dial tone.

Enter the phone number associated with your subscription followed by the # key. This is the number from which you will be forwarding calls.

Enter your personal identification number (PIN).

Enter the feature code.

If they forwarded the call they may have accidentally typed in your number. Probably the best thing to do is call your Landline Provider and tell them your situation. ***** I HOPE THIS HELPS *****
