My soon to be ex seems to know a lot about my and my kid's life, @ the lawyers he seems to know details of my plans and conversations that took place in the privacy of my home - so someone told me that if I get a VOIP phone it will not be cheaply tapped. Is it true?
Also, is there any way of knowing if a PI has been hired to keep an eye on me? Some kind of data base etc.

VoIP is a little more difficult to tap than a land line... because the land line can be accessed from outside of your home... but if you end up connecting your VoIP to your existing wiring then you may end up back feeding the VoIP service outside of your home, at least up to the NID on the side of your home...

also, if your cordless phone is a 900 Mhz phone, and does not have DSS, then it can be picked up with a radio scanner - so it should be replaced with a 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz phone with FHSS or a DECT phone....

there is no databases that i am aware of that private investigators would have publicly available.. it would weaken their ability to carry out their duties..

never underestimate the power of gossip... anyone that you have a conversation with, or who can overhear your conversations may be repeating your conversations to a third party... people are really not that good at keeping things to them self... friends, family members and children are susceptible to repeating information that they heard, and usually are not doing so with bad intentions...

if you believe that there is a leak of information somewhere, you need to plant some seeds... give varying stories to several different people, and see what one(s) come back to you...

yes. because voip phones are internet phones, all someone would need to do is 'sniff' for data packets that your voip phone is transmitting. and viola. It would be pretty hard to tell because when you send data packets through the internet it travels through alot of networking equipment (not just yours). And ifsome government agnecy, or even a smart hacker knows how to sniff for the specific packets sent by your voip phone. your phone is tapped. They can do this from the other side of the world, because VoIP is not like traditional phone lines.
