Uniden is the leader in cordless phones. They deal strictly with phones and phone accessories IE: answering mechines.
when talking about things such as 1.8 ghz, you are essentially talking about wavelengths. the larger the number the more waves in the signal you are sending. This means the larger the number, the better reception you will have, the farther from the base you can go, and the thicker walls it will go through. 1.8ghz is great if you live in a small apartment. if you live in a big house, with brick walls, a 5.8ghz would be a better buy.

Anything Panasonic I have ever owned has never lasted for over a year. I have always only had Uniden phones and my parents both have Uniden phones and they have lasted for over 10 years now.
