I use a dial-up modem for work. I dial out using special software over ym regular landlines. I do not have a dial-up Internet service and I don't connect to the Internet, I simply connect directly to my client. My modem disconnects at roughly the same times each week. I've had my phone company look at my lines four times, and repeatedly they've found no problems. They've changed my switch card, changed my feeder pair at the neighborhood box, changed the office equipement, and changed the copper cable pair to my neighborhood. I've replaced my modem, made sure all my other cords are three inches from my phonje line, and I've added S10=100 to my modem settings. Nothing has worked. What could the problem be and how can I fix it?

listen to the quality of your phone line with an actual telephone.. make a few calls.. do you hear static? to do hear a hum? do you hear anyone in the background... the best way to identify a trouble with a phone line is with a telephone connected to the line, so that you can explain the symptoms to the telephone company in the event that it is a problem outside..

is the system that you are connecting to timing you out after a certain length of time?

is your system timing you out after a certain amount of time?

do you have call waiting, and failed to disable it by putting " *70, " before the number that you dial (yes include the comma, it puts a pause in the dial string... but remove the quotes...

What else do U have on that line? Is there a alarm system, a Tivo DVR or another computer? They could be interfering with the line. What times does it disconnect?

If you have call waiting on your line be sure to dial *70 before dialing into your company's network.
